Eve’s Burden

To my sweet sisters in Christ, I would like to open your hearts to the idea that Eve’s burden is no longer your burden. We live under a new covenant in Christ that cancels out the punishment bestowed on women that fateful day in the Garden of Eden.

Regardless of your Christian walk, I’m guessing you know the story of Adam and Eve being deceived by the Serpent to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil – God’s only rule to them in the garden.

Once the offense occurred, God said to Eve: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children; your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.” (Genesis 3:16 NKJV)

The rest of the Old Testament builds on the laws that man was to abide by during his time on earth. Moses brought the tablets down from the mountain which became known as the Ten Commandments. The commandments formed a covenant, or agreement, between God and man, in which God promised to protect man if he kept His law and was faithful to Him.

Throughout scripture, more and more laws were written, and curses defined for each law that man could not obey. Alas, man always fell short. God knew he needed a new covenant with man if he hoped to bring them into righteousness. The answer came in the form of Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

Jesus Christ enabled a new covenant (or promise) between God and man, in which we only had to believe in Him as our savior, to be saved.

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” (Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV)

What does this mean for you ladies? That Jesus Christ has paid the price for Eve’s transgression, and her punishment no longer applies to you!

When I learned this simple lesson over five years ago, I have not suffered another minute with menstrual cramps. Every time I fell a cramp start to form, I say out loud that I no longer live under the curse, therefore cramps do not affect me. I tell the cramps to leave in Jesus’ name – and they vanish as fast as they came.

I cannot attest that the pain and discomfort of child birth and menopause will flee as easily as menstrual cramps, but I would stand under the promise of His word that His will is good, pleasing, and perfect – and no pain aligns with that promise!

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

God’s will is perfect. And by perfect, that means no pain, sickness or disease!

When I am given the opportunity to pray healing for others, my prayer is simple – using my authority in Christ, I command their bodies to come into alignment with God’s perfect will. Satan will try to show us otherwise.

A dear friend was recently called back for a second mammogram, so they could take a closer look at a potential issue. After a quick prayer commanding her body back into alignment with God’s will – the test came back negative.

Another recent divine appointment put me in the path of a woman who was about to go in for a biopsy of some nodules that doctors found in her throat. I commanded her body to come into alignment with God’s will – and that test came back negative as well.

Just last week I had the opportunity to pray for a woman with a brain tumor that doctors are contemplating how to remove with a risky surgery. I stand on the promise that she is healed by His stripes, and by the next doctor visit, they won’t find a tumor to operate on!

I challenge you, sweet friends, to take God up on this new covenant prescription – that He is the answer for all that ails you. While in Eve’s time, God said, “They shall not enter My rest” we live in a new time, under a new promise, where He promises we can enter His rest by faith – faith that His Son has paid the price for our sins.

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16 NKJV)

  1. Amen to that. Andrew Wommack took God on His Word for that and when his wife was in labour he renounced the curse of pain and she gave birth without pain. Because of this testimony other women followed her and it is confirmed that child labour can be without pain, it is possible because Jesus paid the price for that too – it is part of the curse as stated in Genesis.
