All Miracles, No Regrets

A friend recently asked if I had any regrets never having children.

I spent the first half of my 30’s trying to have children, and the second half of my 30’s convincing myself it was God’s will that I didn’t.

The more I learned about my Heavenly Father – I learned this simply wasn’t true. It was Genesis chapter 1, verse 28 that taught me otherwise. God was weaving the earth into being, had just created Adam and Eve and verse 28 says, “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply…”.

Romans 12:2 has also become one of my favorite Bible verses to remember when I am not sure of God’s will, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

If God’s will is perfect, and He wants us to be fruitful and multiply, bringing children into this world should not be difficult. So why do so many of us struggle with infertility? Simple, we have an enemy among us.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 NKJV)

Satan and his demons have a mission – and it is to steal your destiny, kill your dreams, and destroy your future. If Satan doesn’t manage to kill a baby being formed in the womb, he will try to kill that child throughout his childhood and all through adulthood.

While it is God’s will we all die of old age peacefully in our beds, it is Satan’s will our lives be cut short.

My regret is that I didn’t understand my authority in Christ sooner. My regret is letting Satan steal my destiny. James 4:7 says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” I know now that I have the authority in Jesus’ name to tell demons to leave me alone.

I know God can, and will, use my journey to bring healing, restoration, and blessings to others. I was recently able to share my insights with a co-worker, Shanta, who was struggling to get pregnant. For six years she and her husband tried bringing a child into the world. If you have not been through this yourself, you may not understand how discouraging it is to try to get pregnant month-after-month. You have only 12 tries per year, and each month can be like a mini-funeral for your hopes and dreams.

I was able to share with her, “If I knew then, what I know now…I would command Satan and his demons to leave my womb. I would command each child-producing organ in my body to accept God’s richest blessings, and operate by God’s perfect design. I would resist the devil, and he would have to flee.”

In all of Jesus’ miracles on earth, He didn’t pray to His father to heal the sick or raise the dead – he spoke God’s will to the person.

Take up your bed and walk” was His instruction in John 5:11 to a man healed after 38 years of infirmity.

Lazarus, come forth!” was His proclamation in John 11:43 when he raised a man from the dead.

God gave us the power and authority to move mountains with our words. He told us to speak to the problem so the problem will move.

Shanta absorbed every ounce of my advice – and began declaring God’s will over her womb, eggs, and fallopian tubes. On a daily basis she commanded her entire body to come into alignment with God’s will – which is to “be fruitful and multiply…”.

Within three months, Shanta was pregnant!

I certainly won’t take credit for Shanta’s miracle – I was only one stop on her amazing journey toward an answered prayer. Shanta, her husband, and other close friends and family were already praying, already believing God would give them a child. In fact, God was guiding her and her husband through dreams and visions of a future with not just one child, but three! I find that God likes using answered prayers to not only bless the requestor, but to also serve as an inspiration to others – as many as the testimony will reach!

Another stop on Shanta’s miracle-train was her sister, who had also been praying for Shanta’s conception. In August, her sister asked her to help start a 40-day prayer challenge – to which she agreed and found fifteen other people to join them. Each person brought their own hopes and dreams into the 40-day challenge, and on a weekly basis they worked through a Bible study together. Along the way they would share prayer requests and praise reports. During this time, prayers were answered, God’s blessing were pouring out on this hope-filled group.

The prayer warriors were convinced by the end of the 40-day challenge that Shanta was pregnant. They had to talk her into believing it and take a test! Between the time of the positive results from the store-bought test, and the first doctor appointment confirming the same, God spoke to Shanta in the night.

God’s message was clear, “Whatever you ask according to my will, I will answer.” Then He said again, “WHATEVER”.

Each of us has a prayer…we each have our “whatever” we are asking God to answer. But He needs us to do our part – understand His will and command the evil to flee so God’s will may freely flow.

The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16 NKJV)

I can’t wait to meet this new little miracle!
